Analytical Instrument Specialist, Department of Geological Sciences, University of Florida.

 

The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, renewable, non-tenure-accruing faculty position in instrument engineering and support. We invite applicants with experience in maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and developing analytical instruments.

 

The successful candidate will work with faculty to ensure departmental instrumentation is in optimal working condition, which will include scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting of hardware, software, and computer problems, electronic and mechanical repairs, installing and testing of detectors and ion sources, coordinating with manufacturers for site or remote service visits, and related activities. The position will also involve instrument development in collaboration with faculty depending on the applicant’s interests and qualifications. The successful candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in addition to technical experience with analytical instruments. Required qualifications include a B.S. degree with relevant experience or a graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in engineering, geochemistry, chemistry, geophysics, physics, or a related field. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.
