Electrical & Computer Engineering Student Lab Assistant (OPS Position)

Job Description:

The Powell Family Structures and Materials Laboratory is seeking a part/full-time student assistant with an Electrical and Computer Engineering background.  The assistant will provide technical support and maintenance for the operation of the boundary layer wind tunnel and other lab functions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·        Troubleshoots, repairs, calibrations and designs circuits

·        Assist with wind tunnel operation, data collection and experimental testing

·        Assists with lab equipment installations

·        Performs maintenance of equipment and laboratory

·        Documents technical tasks performed or software written

·        Assists with basic assembly, cleaning and organization tasks

·        Other duties as required

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Hands on printed circuit boards (PCB) experience (board assembly, soldering, debugging using multimeter/oscilloscope, cable/wire assembly)

·        Possess basic knowledge of power supplies

·        Experience with Matlab and/or LabVIEW

·        Strong computer skills (MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·        Excellent written and oral communication skills

·        Machining experience or mechanical background is a plus
