Online Symposium on “Bioelectronics for Pain and Addiction”

Dear UF  Community,

The Nanoscience Institute for Medical and Engineering Technology (NIMET) and the

Multifunctional Integrated Systems Technology (MIST) Center are pleased to announce

an event this week that will describe advances in using bioelectronics to address

the large societal challenges of chronic pain and addiction / substance-user disorder:

Online Symposium on “Bioelectronics for Pain and Addiction”

This free online event is scheduled from 2-5 pm on Thursday (Pain) and Friday (addiction/SUD).

Presentations given each day by international engineering/industrial/scientific/clinical leaders in these fields will include:

  • a review talk providing background on the clinical need, scientific understanding, existing clinical approaches, their limitations, and the promise of bioelectronic approaches
  • advanced clinical work using existing state-of-the-art bioelectronic technology
  • emerging invasive and non-invasive bioelectronic technology
  • new in vitro technologies that could be used to accelerate therapy development

See below or click here for the agenda and a registration link.

I hope many ECE students will take advantage of this unique opportunity to hear from leaders in this exciting and rapidly developing area of bioelectronic technology with social impact.
